XRP spot ETFs pulled in $11.31 million last week. Not bad for a token that dropped roughly 8% in the same stretch.
Why It Matters
The sustained inflows into XRP spot ETFs, despite a notable price decline, indicate a growing institutional interest and confidence in the asset, potentially driven by its utility and market positioning following recent regulatory developments. This dichotomy between inflows and price movement suggests that investors may be viewing current price levels as a buying opportunity, which could set the stage for future market recovery. Additionally, the increase in inflows from the previous week underscores a trend that could influence overall market sentiment and liquidity for XRP in the longer term.
The week running October 5 through October 9 saw XRP fall from around $1.52 to $1.40, touching a weekly low of $1.32 on October 8. Prices were ugly. Inflows weren’t. Data from Sosovalue puts the total net inflows at $11.31 million — more than double the $4.74 million recorded the prior week — extending a streak that now sits at 12 consecutive weeks of positive net flows. That’s a pretty remarkable run for any ETF category, let alone one tied to an asset that’s been bouncing around with the rest of the crypto market.
Bitwise carried most of the weight here.
Bitwise Dominates, But the Numbers Get Complicated
Bitwise’s XRP ETF brought in $10.55 million of that $11.31 million total. On October 6, Bitwise added $3.14 million. Then on October 8 — the exact day XRP hit its weekly low of $1.32 — the fund saw $8.17 million in inflows, the highest single-day figure since September 25. Buyers were basically stepping in as the price fell. Whether that’s conviction or capitulation dressed up as conviction is harder to say.
Franklin Templeton’s XRPZ added $4.10 million on the week. Canary Capital’s XRPC went the other direction, posting a $3.34 million outflow. Strip out Bitwise entirely, and the remaining funds collectively added only about $760,000. So the headline number flatters the broader picture a bit.
Cumulative net inflows across all XRP ETFs now sit at $1.8 billion since inception. Bitwise alone has hit $688 million in cumulative net inflows, putting it ahead of XRPZ at $509 million and XRPC at $487 million. Total XRP ETF net assets are currently valued at $1.57 billion, which works out to roughly 1.80% of XRP’s total market capitalization.
But here’s where it gets messy. The value of what these funds actually hold is about $230 million less than the total amount investors have put in. On October 7, that gap stood at $97 million — $1.794 billion in cumulative inflows against $1.697 billion in assets. A week later, it’s widened considerably. Prices falling will do that.
XRP Stands Alone as Bitcoin Bleeds $681 Million
The broader crypto ETF picture last week was rough. U.S. bitcoin funds bled $681 million in net outflows, even as bitcoin prices held relatively steady near $83,000. XRP ETFs were, per available data, the only group in positive territory for the week. That’s a weird split — usually these products move with some correlation to the broader market mood.
A few things are probably keeping XRP buyers engaged. Ripple patched a significant bug in the XRP Ledger back in September, before any known exploitation occurred. The vulnerability could have affected XRP’s supply mechanics, which would have been a serious problem. Ripple moved fast, fixed it, and the market seems to have largely shrugged it off — or maybe even rewarded the response with continued fund inflows.
And then there’s Evernorth. The company listed on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN and controls 473 million XRP. That’s a lot of XRP sitting inside a publicly traded stock. For some investors, that’s an alternative route to XRP exposure without touching an ETF directly. It could pull dollars away from the ETF products, or it could just mean more overall demand for XRP-related financial instruments. Unclear yet which way that cuts.
The Gap Between Inflows and Value Keeps Widening
The persistence of weekly inflows is real. Twelve straight weeks is not nothing. But the $230 million gap between what investors have put in and what those assets are worth right now is also real, and it’s grown fast. That gap didn’t exist in the same way a few months ago.
Investors seem willing to sit with it. Maybe they’re looking past short-term price moves. Maybe they’re averaging down. Probably some of both, depending on who’s buying. The Bitwise concentration is worth watching — if that one fund has a bad week, the streak likely ends.
Evernorth started trading on Nasdaq under XRPN with 473 million XRP on its books.
