XRP has made headlines again, this time breaking past its previous all-time high to trade above $3.60. The surge, which saw XRP reaching a peak of $3.64, marks a nearly 68% gain over the past month. This sharp rally comes as a wave of positive developments—both regulatory and market-driven—boost investor confidence in the Ripple-affiliated cryptocurrency.
The biggest catalyst came from Washington, where three major crypto-related bills successfully cleared the U.S. House of Representatives. These include the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act, both designed to provide clear regulatory guidance for digital assets. With legal uncertainties surrounding many cryptocurrencies, including XRP, these bills aim to offer a more structured and stable framework, which is seen as a green light for institutional investors to reenter the market.
In parallel, XRP got a major institutional boost as ProShares introduced the first XRP futures ETF in the U.S. This move significantly broadens access to XRP for traditional investors who previously lacked regulated channels to gain exposure to the asset. The ETF is expected to bring increased liquidity and stability to XRP markets, making it more attractive for large-scale financial players.
The shift is already drawing major attention. Top asset managers such as Franklin Templeton, Grayscale, 21Shares, and Bitwise have filed for XRP-related investment products, signaling deepening trust in the asset’s long-term viability. Their interest supports the idea that XRP is evolving from a speculative altcoin into a core holding for more conservative investment portfolios.
The regulatory outlook also appears to be tilting in XRP’s favor. Observers are closely watching for any movement from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which has been embroiled in a legal battle with Ripple since 2020. Rumors are swirling that the SEC may soon drop its appeal in the case. If confirmed, this would effectively finalize a 2023 court decision that stated XRP’s sales to retail buyers are not securities. Such a resolution would lift a major legal cloud that has long hung over the token.
In fact, the growing confidence is being reflected in prediction markets. Polymarket, a leading decentralized prediction platform, now estimates an 88% chance that a spot XRP ETF will be approved before the end of 2025. This rising probability suggests that institutional optimism is not limited to futures products, but also extends to spot market offerings that are even more attractive for long-term investors.
Attention is now turning to two critical dates—July 21 and July 25—when decisions regarding leveraged XRP ETFs could be finalized. These dates are seen as potential turning points that may pave the way for broader adoption of XRP-based financial products.
Meanwhile, activity in the derivatives market is surging. According to Coinalyze, XRP open interest jumped by 25% in the last 24 hours, reaching $4.6 billion. Perpetual contracts account for nearly all of that volume, with Binance and Bybit leading the pack by holding $1.8 billion and $1.6 billion in open interest, respectively.
CoinGlass data supports this spike in trading activity. In the past 24 hours, XRP liquidations totaled $88.54 million, surpassing Bitcoin’s $79.67 million and ranking second only to Ethereum’s $206.65 million. Interestingly, most of these liquidations were short positions, indicating that many traders had bet against XRP and were caught off-guard by the rapid price increase.
The broader market experienced significant volatility as a result. More than 153,000 traders were liquidated in a single day, leading to over $577 million in forced position closures. XRP played a key role in driving this wave of liquidations, underlining its growing influence on the overall crypto market.
The recent gains are underpinned by rising interest from institutional players and large holders, often referred to as whales. Their continued accumulation suggests confidence in further price appreciation. As momentum builds, analysts now believe that a move toward $4 in the near term is well within reach.
This recent rally marks a dramatic turnaround for XRP, which spent years burdened by regulatory uncertainty and market hesitation. Now, with clearer legal frameworks, expanding ETF products, and increasing investor interest, XRP appears to be entering a new chapter. It’s no longer just about speculation; it’s about institutional acceptance and market maturity. If current trends continue, XRP could soon establish itself as a foundational asset in the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem.
