Will Making Bitcoin (BTC) Simple Enough for the Uneducated Drive a Huge Adoption for it?

Bitcoin BTC Education

Bitcoin’s adoption has been moving forward as its application has grown beyond bounds. Defi platforms have recently boosted its usability as more bitcoins are locked in third-party custodian wallets now more than ever -tough with its own risks. But, the adoption has been slow to reach the uneducated or the non-tech savvy. This might be because of the complexity of the tech or because everyone who uses it needs to have a base level information of how it works.

To hasten Bitcoin’s adoption, it must be presented in a simple way that “removes the need for anyone to understand how it works” as opined by a Bitcoin enthusiast (@Beautyon_) in a tweet from 2019:

“For Bitcoin to succeed, it too must be packaged in a way that removes the need for anyone to understand how it works. There is nothing wrong with this, and it will be a difficult task to achieve. Rest assured it will get done, because the need for Bitcoin is greater than you think”

People use electronics efficiently without bothering about how it works or who made what. This might be a very insightful position on how to make bitcoin viral but what about its decentralization? Electronics have centralized companies who made them, they are the ones who carry the burdens of how what works. If they don’t do well, people will eventually use better tech from another provider. Bitcoin is totally different, it is sustained by people who mine it thus, decentralized. In a recent commentary about the tweet, ‘witcher_sense’ a legendary member on Bitcoin talk stated:

“… imagine the situation in which bitcoin is being adopted only by uneducated who have no idea how bitcoin works, who don’t think too much about decentralization, and the necessity of sustainability of characteristics, they don’t even know why they are using bitcoin instead of fiat! If they don’t know what full node is, they will not bother to run one. Decentralization is gone. Bitcoin is gone or less valuable due to the decrease of decentralization. Faster adoption is bitcoin’s demise.”

Bitcoin thrives on the value that people all over the world placed on it. This value is drawn from the basic knowledge that bitcoin is decentralized, it is secure, transparent, and immutable. People who know this and like what they see are able to join other people to mine Bitcoin and profit with other miners by joining pools. Basic Bitcoin education is a value in itself that people who have it pride in it. Just like Gold, not so many have it, that is why it is so valuable and everyone wants to have it. The knowledge of Bitcoin and Bitcoin is valuable, everyone that has it must have solidified believers in the tech that cannot be swayed by just anyone. Easy to adopt Bitcoin will make it easy to reject or dump Bitcoin.

Sydney Ifergan in a Tweet commented:

“Bitcoin usage among those who are less educated is a sign of BTC getting well known among masses. We need it to happen for true adoption.”

Bitcoin adoption must be accompanied by a deep understanding of the technology behind it. This will lead to a strong belief and therefore a strong community that knows what it stands for. This kind of community is what Bitcoin had that made it stand strong in the face of Governments to the extent that they are won over. This is the community that Bitcoin needs going forward. What do you think?
