NEM tweeted:  “#Symbol is a hybrid chain with native compatibility with both public and private chains. Designed for interoperability, users can preserve an intimate ecosystem in a private chain and communicate freely with the public chain as a #decentralized hub of data.”

The Symbol roadmap is expected to be up on the new website of NEM that is scheduled for launch.

NEM has tweeted that their new and updated website is launching soon.  They have facilitated a sneak peek as well.

Symbol namespaces are unique because once you register a namespace, it is completely unique.  No one will be able to take it, similar to a website domain name.  Thus, it is possible to assign human-readable names to the addresses. It is also possible to send transactions to an address without even having to know what it is.  Thus, Symbol namespaces are becoming the coolest thing ever.

By making use of Symbol, businesses will be able to launch and extend private networks by developing custom plugins and extensions at the protocol level. 

Sydney Ifergan, the crypto expert, tweeted: “Symbol from NEM facilitates interoperability between the public and private blockchain.  Good that a private ecosystem can be sustained while at the same time be public when required selective.”

NEM COVIDathon

COVID pandemic is a great challenge.  There has been a devastating economic shutdown with unprecedented challenges to citizens, businesses, and governments.  It is time for collective action with innovative solutions.

Decentralized Artificial Intelligence Alliance (DAIA) is comprised of nearly 50+ companies, labs, and nonprofits. They are focusing on addressing some of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.  They are working on this mission through COVIDathon.

COVIDathon is the first of its kind Artificial Intelligence hackathon, decentralized empowered by experts in the medical, AI, and blockchain sectors. The hackathon is focused on bringing together developers, engineers, and doctors to work in different tracks like in data privacy, epidemiology, and medicine, informational and coping tools, as well as open innovation. Thus developing solutions to leverage AI and the blockchain technology to improve on the social impact.

This is a worthy initiative, and it is open for participation by all.  The hackathon will start from April 01, 2020, and will be running for eight straight weeks in its four distinct tracks.
