Though not precisely a mesh network, Althea is for marketing purposes called a mesh network. Althea is a bridge made up of the Ethereum contract.  It does a lot of things that people associate with a Mesh Networking like automated failover, automated set up, plugin and play kind of activity with people who are nearby we communicate to. Still, it is not the seamless walk around connect anyone thing that people tend to imagine.

Althea is trying to simplify the software configuration, making it easy to plug and play.  That is what makes it the current job of the developers on Althea Peggy; otherwise, people will have to install and set up internet to scale.

When questioned on, what has changed economically in the past few decades, that makes Althea work now. Why was not there an internet originally not this way?

When the internet was first built, nobody really knew how to pay for or how to bill for it. So, the only guide was to go by the speed of the line installed in terms of how many bits per second you could put over this line.  The proxy server was not fast enough.  They did not bother with software routing, building dynamic traffic control.  The billing system for the traditional internet was missing a lot of essential details to ensure fair pricing. They just used the speed of the line as the logic to bill and sell. It made sense at that time. 

Now things have changed a lot; it is completely possible with regular consumer hardware to do so that involves monitoring traffic, routing it dynamically, writing really advanced software management, making it kind of mesh networking.

The post CoVid working era will involve a lot of working via the internet and communicating through the internet. Perhaps, Althea Peggy will make a finer use case in terms of improved communication via the internet, providing for the needed technology for economic rates.
