Dogecoin Core 1.14.5 the Low Fees by Default at 0.01 Doge Per KB

Dogecoin Core 1.14.5 the Low Fees by Default at 0.01 Doge Per KB

Mishaboar expressed:  Dogecoin Core 1.14.5 is out.  Users are recommended to update immediately due to important security fixes. 1.14.5 reduces the recommended fees, following the reduction of the relay fees in 1.14.4. You also get bug fixes and performance improvements.

In other words, with this release, the wallet component of Dogecoin Core will send out transactions using the low fees by default (0.01 Doge per kb). Security fixes and performance improvements make this update a requirement for both node operators and wallet users.

I encourage everybody to follow Dogecoin Devs. They are those we must thank for the big work done on 1.14.5. Overall, 28 contributors worked on this release.

All SHIBes are important, but these people really go the extra mile to support Doge.

Special thanks go to all (new and old) node operators and miners who accepted the low fees, an effort which should make this transition as smooth as possible (fingers crossed). Thank you all! And no worries, I will keep alienating all of you by reminding you to update your nodes.

And of course, big thanks to all the Shibes that have been making memes, making art, doing absurd stuff, howling at the moon even when no moon was in sight, and just being kind to each other, and having fun. This is the way Dogecoin should be: absurd and fun.

Community Response:  Update Done.

So, still some fees. Could we eliminate them altogether? Fees are needed to protect against spam attacks. They are so low anyhow that they are basically unnoticeable. Many transactions will come with fees as low as 0.003 USD. The new setup allows for further reductions should Doge price go up.

If I run a Dogecoin node on my gaming desktop would that help the system or would I just be wasting my time?  You can think of it as seeding a torrent. You upload the block chain to others and help them sync faster and you relay transactions forward to miners if you can do it.  It is not a waste.

To the people who sold because of the hype and price went down, it’s not late, if Elon says he’s working with a coin don’t sell all of it, massive chance he will turn it into something that be used globally.

Why’s a multi billionaire still tweeting about it and there still working on it if it’s dead? Worth holding in my opinion.  I bought at 0.05.  Anyone going to turn that coin in to something usable it will be Elon.
