DogeCoin started off as a meme currency way back in 2013.  Newegg recently stated. “We are now accepting dogecoin as an official payment method via BitPay. Simply click “Edit” in the payment section during checkout, select BitPay, and complete your transaction. Happy DogeDay to all, let’s share the good news.”

For clarity, Newegg are all things about PC hardware, gaming and tech.  Newegg are one of the leading tech-focused e-retailers in North America.  They recently celebrated DogeDay and as a part of the celebration they announced that the company now accepts Dogecoin as an official payment method on Newegg.com.

It is very obvious that Newegg have been very quick to embrace the shift to cryptocurrency. Also, in 2014, they were the first major e-retailer to accept Bitcoin for purchases which were made on the Newegg platform. Also, Newegg are among the first to make it possible for customers to pay with Dogecoin when they are shopping online.

Andrew Choi, Sr. Brand Manager of Newegg expressed, “The excitement and momentum around cryptocurrency are undeniable, and that the recent surge in Dogecoin value underscores the need to make it easier for customers to make purchases with this popular cryptocurrency,” Further stated, “We’re committed to making it easy for our customers to shop however works best for them, and that means letting them complete transactions with the payment method that suits them best. To that end, we’re happy to give Dogecoin fans an easy way to shop online for tech.”

They have provided the following details about making the payment:  “When completing an order on Newegg.com, customers who want to pay with Dogecoin simply click “Edit” in the payment section on the checkout page, then select BitPay. Customers can then complete their transactions using Dogecoin held in their digital wallet.”

They have also provided full details on paying with BitPay on Newegg.com.

Dogecoin recently warned:  “If someone asks you to send money before you can receive money, you’re likely dealing with a scam. Please stay safe, shibes, and carefully research sites and services you have not used before.”

Also expressed, For real though guys keep some rationality when gambling on highly volatile assets like cryptocurrency. Euphoria is a helluva drug, but y’know, at least keep paying your bills and feeding your family and have a safe rainy day fund. Stay Safe.  Be Smart.

In response one of the DOGE holders stated, My Dogecoin are now worth almost as much as my rainy day fund and I only spent about $170 on Doge. Highly volatile… e.g. +1800%?
