Kusama is a community research and development network for experimenting cutting-edge blockchain projects.

Kusama makes it possible for users to be able to explore politics and to campaign as a councillor or vote for new runtime proposals using democracy.

It is possible to hone the validator set-up. Also, the minimum requirement for staking as a validator on Kusama is very less than that of Polkadot. Some programs like Thousand Validators make it possible to help the community validators improve their ranks.

When it comes to deploying a parachain, Kusama provides the functionality that is needed for the parachains for Polkadot. Therefore, users will be able to participate in a parachain slot auction by using composable applications.

There is something called a cyber-secret society and users will be able to become a member there. The Kappa Sigma Mu fraternity requires the users to get a Kusama tattoo to be a part of the community.

The best of all is that the Kusama is owned by the holders of Kusama tokens (KSM). And, there is no central kill switch and everything is decentralized.  Every change is made through the on-chain governance of the protocol. However, they also state that Kusama is experimental and that there are no guarantees.

It is good to expect Chaos as Kusama is getting more battle tested day-by-day.  However, the good thing is that it is built on the foundations of moving fast and trying new things.

Sydney Ifergan, the crypto expert tweeted:  “While Kusama (KSM) shares codebase similar to Polkadot and therefore ideal as an experimental platform for those who are preparing to deploy on Polkadot.”

Kusama (KSM) Set to Be More Robust

Recently Polkadot tweeted:  “On Polkadot & @kusamanetwork governance proxies allow proxies to make governance transactions (e.g. from the Council, Treasury, Technical Committee, Democracy and Elections pallets). Explore governance proxies and how to set one up with @krichard410.”

Also, recently Swisscom Blockchain AG received a Wave 5 grant from Web3 Foundation to develop a Kubernetes Operator for sentry nodes and validators for both Kusama and Polkadot.

It is expected for the initiative and technology to contribute to both the robustness of the network, thus making Polkadot and Kusama less prone to attacks on network participants and to further help increase the trustworthiness of the network.

For those who do not know, Swisscom Blockchain AG provides solutions which permits companies to interact easily with the public Blockchain networks. Also, Polkadot has been identified as the key technology which will further enrich the cryptocurrency infrastructure based services provided to customers.
