Solana (SOL) Not ETH Killer Anymore Due to Degraded Performance
  • Proof of History (PoS) and Proof of Stakes (PoS)
  • SOL Cannot be Mined
  • Solana has High Throughout Low Transaction Fees
  • The 8000% price growth is never going to happen again
  • SOL Network Clog DDOS
  • SOL is Volatile long-term potential is Uncertain

Solana has an estimated market dominance at 1.86% Solana coin cannot be mined.  Those who are willing to participate in the Solana ecosystem can only stake and receive SOL coin in rewards. Solana is a Proof of Stake (PoS) blockchain. It makes use of a new technology called Proof of History (PoH).  The advantages of Solana are in terms of speed and low transaction cost when compared to Ethereum.

Ethereum is not able to deliver the desired transaction speed due for its scalability due to the blockchain structure.  Thus, it creates bottlenecks and delays in transaction leading to high gas fees. Solana has the capability to support tens of several thousands of transactions in a second. ETH is capable of supporting roughly 13 transactions per second.

The 5 exchanges where users can buy Solana are Binance, Kraken, Coinbase, Uphold, and FTX.

The ability to verify 65,000 transactions per second with each transaction costing less than a penny made SOL worthwhile. However, this was true only there was manageable load.  When the traffic increased the story changed.

However, the point in concern about Solana is that it has been repeatedly subject to network clogs causing the transactions to fail.  The decline of transactions is related to distributed denial of service (DDoS)

“In practical terms, the ability to perform at least 50,000 transactions per second and a 4-second block time, the cryptocurrency is expected to be more than three times faster than the Ethereum’s “2.0” release planned for 2022.”

However, the recent problems with degraded performance due to an increase in high numbers of transactions has challenged the network capacity and transaction processing times and even failed transactions. So, the ETH killer Promise of Solana is not gaining acceptance.

Cryptocurrencies are more than just a currency.  The cryptocurrencies can be used to power and enable the functioning of other apps in the blockchain platform.

In the beginning of year 2021, the price of Solana was just at $2 in its peak, eventually the price skyrocketed to a price increase by 8000%.  This is not going to repeat over again though. At the time of writing, the price was trending at $95.37.

In 2022, some of them predict that the price of Solana is expected to trend in the $300 range and can go as high as $400. It is not possible for Solana to grow 100 times as it did in 2021, because if such a growth should happen the market valuation should be at $5.66 trillion.  This will not happen. As the overall cryptocurrency market cap is trending at $3 trillion. Perhaps, theoretically it is possible for SOL to move at least 10 times high in 2022.

The long-term Solana (SOL/USD) forecast from price prediction point of view is at $230 in 2022, $763 in 2025, and $4,894 by 2030.

Solana is growing and it is not too late to get in to SOL.  The growth of Solana in areas like Dapps and NFTs is improving. The high throughput and low gas fees make Solana attractive. The Solana blockchain is much faster and cheaper than Ethereum. However, just like all tokens SOL is volatile and its long-term potential is uncertain.

Solana has settled more than $50 billion in transactions and they have minted more than 5.7 million NFTs. RUST is the most commonly used programming language on Solana.  This is the best choice because most of the APIs are already written in this language.

The focus of Solana Continues to be in the speed of performance.
