In a landscape where cryptocurrency is gaining popularity, the Shiba Inu community is on high alert as malefactors attempt to exploit unsuspecting investors. Susbarium, the official scam alert channel for Shiba Inu, has raised a red flag, warning the community and exchanges about a new wave of fraudulent activities.
The warning issued by Susbarium cautions that malicious actors are posing as official Shiba Inu team members and sending deceptive emails. Their primary aim is to deceive SHIB holders and exchanges, potentially putting their investments at risk. To help protect the community, Susbarium has shared an essential security tip: always verify the legitimacy of content by contacting the sender or official channels directly, using verified contact methods.
Additionally, Susbarium urges users to exercise caution when clicking on links, only doing so when they are confident the source is trustworthy.
The Threat: Fake Fantom Chain Offers
Susbarium’s alert is a response to a recent incident where hackers targeted Poloniex, a cryptocurrency exchange. The hackers claimed to be from the Shiba Inu Business Development team and offered $160,000 to Poloniex to list the Fantom Chain version of SHIB on their platform. However, this offer came with a condition—Poloniex had to successfully integrate the Fantom Chain version before receiving the funds.
Community Admin’s Warning
Susbarium’s warning echoes an earlier caution from RagnarShib, a prominent member of the Shiba Inu community. RagnarShib emphasized that Shiba Inu does not have an official Fantom Chain version or a LinkedIn account. He issued the warning following reports of exchanges receiving offers from fake Shiba Inu team members to support a non-existent Fantom version of SHIB.
RagnarShib also clarified that SHIB is exclusively available on the Ethereum network, dispelling any claims of a version on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).
