IOTA Blockchain Lets start the Engine – Next Stop Mars and the Digital Green Certificate

IOTA Blockchain The Digital Green Certificate

The new IOTA transaction format introduced with Chrysalis can carry a payload of up to 32 KB. Attached information only takes as much space as it really needs so nodes have to process as little data as possible.

Someone who read this information stated:  What does this mean? Don’t understand the value in this information.

Another community member clarified stating, well it’s just a lot of data.  I think an Ethereum transaction is like 220 bytes, and this is 32768 bytes.

Some of them were left wondering:  That’s a lot of data for a transaction.  As long as it scales, I’m fine with it. And, as long as all relevant data isn’t just in a blob that is impossible to search for data in.

Further clarification was like most of it will be encrypted data so you can’t read it anyway. Scaling is pov. Some people want to send more data in bigger transaction and some very small transaction high speed. Throughput is about the same in both. CPU, RAM, SSD doesn’t change. All DLT will hit the same hardware limit.

There was also some confusion with regards to this information:  The header says 32kB (kilobyte), but in the graph it says 32kb (kilobit) – which one is it? Someone thought it is 32769 characters. So, I guess bytes.

Others in the community who were not too technically sound were simply like Lets start the Engine – Next Stop Mars.

IOTA spoke about the Digital Green Certificates, which try to be an answer to queries like:  what is the best way to allow people to travel again, given the restrictions imposed by the current pandemic? And what is the best technology solution to support credentialing?

Several governments are waiting to take a position and others are analyzing and testing to identify the best solutions which the market has to offer.  The European Union (EU) Commission have set some requirements to drive the market towards the newly-released proposal for the creation of a Digital Green Certificate.

The aim of this certificate is to provide for safe and free movement of citizens within the EU during the COVID-19 pandemic. When it gets deployed, the Digital Green Certificate will make it possible for travelers within the EU to provide a credential which will validates whether one has been vaccinated against or has been tested negative for or has recovered from the COVID-19.

This certificate will further enable the travelers to avoid the otherwise applicable quarantine restrictions and therefore freely move between the EU Member States.
