Greg Isenberg: Today’s hiring process is broken in the future, you’ll be able to apply for a job and start working 60 seconds later Thread: How NFTs will change hiring forever:
The way hiring (mostly) works today: 1. You apply to 50 jobs with your CV 2. You get 5 interviews to prove competency 3. You hope 5/5 are able to properly gauge your skills to get an offer Buuuut CV + an interview often doesn’t tell the whole story.
Let’s be real: – Many candidates don’t interview well – Many candidates undersell themselves – Many interviewers don’t interview well – Many interviewers have prejudice Bottom line: we could do better.
The web3 enabled internet will give you quests, adventures and courses to prove your worth You’ll learn and earn on-chain credentials You’ll use your credentials to prove who you are, what your skills are and what people say about you. You can’t hide from the blockchain.
How it will work: – You apply for a job – It scans the blockchain and rates your set of on chain experiences and credentials – If above a certain rating, you’re hired within 60 seconds No prejudice, no wasted time, no pain Just a quick yes or no This is a big deal.
We are already seeing a glimpse of the future of what on chain credentials – Platforms like @RabbitholeGG train people to learn about web3 protocols – I launched an experiment called cryptocollege to teach people about NFTs/DAOs etc This is just the beginning.
Will startups be the driving force for this new on chain revolution? Or will LinkedIn/Microsoft/Facebook go deep here? Who knows, but I’m certain this is this the direction we’re headed.
Community Response: So basically you’re saying someone needs to take a bunch of courses, do well in them, record them in a permanent record and those that are hardworking enough to do all this get a job. How is this different than college?
If I was a University I would ask companies to create certain challenges to validate classroom knowledge and students would answer them on chain. Which would prove useful for everyone involved.
So you’re talking about a record of everything you’ve done that follows you no matter what? Can’t you see how difficult that could make the lives of people who’ve had bad luck, people from underprivileged backgrounds, disabled people? This is a terrible idea.
I think you are failing to see the point of such “web3” proposals, which is obviously to act as a techbro enrichment device. Excluding people from underprivileged backgrounds is not a bug.
Tech folks are used to miss the human part of the relationships and to boil everything to numbers.
