The world of NFTs is growing exponentially; however, it is worth knowing a few of them for having made it to the headlines to get a feel for how people value it and why?
Pak’s is a famed digital artist. Nifty Gateway is a digital art online auction platform for non-fungible token art founded by Duncan and Griffin Cock Foster. It has since been acquired by the Winklevoss twins.
Pak’s ‘merge’ drop on nifty gateway broke records in largest-ever public sale of an artwork by a living artist.
Reportedly, “In 48 hours, 28,983 collectors spent $91,806,519 to purchase 312,686 total units of mass, which have now been merged to create unique NFTs for each collector of mass.”
Michael Joseph Winkelmann, known professionally as Beeple, is an American digital artist, graphic designer, and animator. He is known for using various mediums in creating comical, phantasmagoric works that make political and social commentary while using pop culture figures as references.
Winkelmann started “Everydays”, which involved creating a piece of art every day, on May 1, 2007. This project is ongoing and has spanned more than 5,000 consecutive days of digital art creation.
The work of the Collage of 5000 digital images was created in to an NFT. It was sold for $66,666.66 and resold for $6.7 million in February 2021.
“Everydays” series, was put up for auction at Christie’s on February 25 and sold for $69,400,000 on March 11, 2021. This was the first NFT to be sold by a legacy auction house, and is the first sale at Christie’s. In March 2021 Beeple called NFTs an “irrational exuberance bubble”.
Julian Paul Assange is an Australian editor, publisher and activist who founded WikiLeaks in 2006. WikiLeaks came to international attention in 2010 when it published a series of leaks provided by U.S. Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning.
‘Clock’ is a piece created by Pak and Julian Assange, and almost acts literally as a clock, counting the days that WikiLeaks founder Assange has been imprisoned.
The goal of the NFT was to raise funds for Assange’s legal defense, and was ultimately purchased by AssangeDAO— a collection of over 10,000 people pooling their money to purchase the NFT and support Assange.

Human one: ‘A portrait of a human born in the metaverse’
Beeple describes the NFT art as “the first portrait of a human born in the metaverse.” The interesting thing about Beeple’s “human one” is that he aims to change it over the course of his lifetime.
Beeple’s works are highly respected as they provide something slightly different from the regular NFTS you see. The price speaks for itself.
Beeple’s crossroad is just a short, 10-second movie of sorts, which depicts people walking past a large, fallen body with insults written all over it.
XCOPY’s “A Coin For the Ferryman” has changed hands for $6 million worth of Ethereum.
