Controversy in the Digibyte (DGB) Community about a Centralized Statement

Controversy Digibyte DGB

The Digibyte community is continuing to accomplish its part in spreading the good word about DGB. Digibyte is not a “hype coin” or “meme coin,” but it is here to stay.  Everyone in the Digibyte community does their part to spread the good word about DGB.

Anyone interested in contributing to the Digibyte community will contribute the code to the Digibyte blockchain.  Several experienced developers in the DGB community will help review the code.  Multiple developers test and review the open-source code to prevent malicious code and critical bugs.

However, a recent tweet from DigiByteCoin created centralization and decentralization controversies.

The tweet read:  Please reference Gitter for official Digibyte development projects and bounties. Any other discussion on other channels is unofficial. We want to adhere to a transparent process that follows the contribution guidelines with PRs and reviews.

New developers can also refer to Gitter for official development projects and bounties. It is important to note that other channels are unofficial.  There are some concerns from the community members that there is no clear roadmap for DGB and that it is not being managed well despite being decentralized.

When someone pointed to “Gitter” as official, several community members frowned, stating that it looks like a centralized statement.

An enthusiastic stacker of DGB stated, “It is interesting to hear from a decentralized project. I have been buying this coin for over five years because of how decentralized it is. This leads me to wonder if I should begin to reduce exposure. Suppose there are specific reasons for the sudden central oversight it should be disclosed.

Further stated, It seems a select few people are attempting to sell out the DGB project and conform to the desires of institutions. This will prove detrimental to the longevity of the project. Without decentralization, DGB loses what makes it valuable. It becomes replaceable by existing projects.”

In response to this, Josiah Spackman stated:  “If we follow the money, who is: a/ in the Gitter channel b/ running the DigiByteCoin Twitter to make a statement about Official vs. Unofficial c/ road blocking dev progress before it’s even been offered in a Pull Request.”

Controversies apart, Digibyte is hailed to be the best payment blockchain as it can be used to buy plane tickets and gift cards.  It can be used to create decentralized applications and DigiAssets (NFTs).  It can secure web logins via Digi-ID and MyDigiPassword.  It facilitates a decentralized internet, combats insurance fraud, and so much more.
