Following GameFi’s meteoric expansion, gaming guilds began to attract attention, with $34 million and $41.5 million raised in November and December 2021 respectively.
Reportedly, the gaming industry has attracted a considerable number of investors since September and the capitalization is peaking past $1.3 billion since November. GameFi is gaining traction because of its quick payback time. Ultimately, the market has been flooded with gaming ventures since the second half of 2021.
Following GameFi’s meteoric expansion, Gaming Guilds began to attract attention, with $34 million and $41.5 million raised in November and December respectively.
a16z, DeFiance Capital, Coinbase Ventures, and Animoca Brands are among the venture capital firms that have invested in guilds.
GUILD means A Group Of Gamers in an online gaming context. A GUILD is a group of gamers who form a team to compete against others in MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games). Most GUILDs are focused on a specific game, but some play together in various games.
Guilds are not only a forum for gamers to talk about games, but they also supply players with resources such as tactics and equipment. Yield Guild Game is the most well-known guild (YGG).
Although each guild’s administration and operation differ, VCs are betting on guilds in the hopes of capturing the next YGG.
A Sneak Peak in to the Noteworthy Guilds:
Yield Guild Game (YGG) currently has the most financing rounds, with three rounds totalling $9.92 million.
With the popularity of Axie, YGG launched the Axie Scholarship program, which provides users with the three required Axie NFTs to begin the game. Thanks to a profit-sharing model of 70% for players, 20% for middle management, and 10% for later reinvestment in the guild, the guild has built a one-stop gaming hub for recruitment, training, and lending.
YGG has simplified the entrance criteria for user engagement in GameFi while collaborating with over 30 games to help them get visibility.
YGG has also established various regional and branch subDAOs to recruit, train, and localize games, as well as to integrate talent into DAOs, to address geographic boundaries.
In particular, YGG SEA, one of YGG’s subDAOs focused on Southeast Asia, raised up to $15 million in December.
Tokens may also be issued by each subDAO. Users with YGGLOK tokens, for example, can vote on how rewards are distributed in the League of Kingdoms.
The Avocado Guild (AG) was created in July and has a brief history of development, but it is the most well-funded guild ($18 million).
AG’s fundamental operational platform, like YGG’s, is Axie, which gives free accounts to gamers via its Axie Infinity Scholarship Program and produces money through education and training in collaboration with AG.
Despite the fact that AG players only get 50% of the earnings, AG stands out from other guilds due to its focus on community education. AG presents three new P2E ideas (Play To Educate, Play To Enrich, and Play To Empower) to educate and train players on blockchain knowledge via online and offline conversation, while also motivating players to study game mechanics and improve their abilities.
AG has also collaborated with Singaporean cellular operator TPG Telecom, enabling customers to trade AVG (AG’s token) for TPG credits, completing AG’s first real-world example.
GuildFi (GF) intends to be a metaverse infrastructure gateway that serves as a one-stop service platform for players, guilds, gamers, and investors. By offering admission, training, and value-added services in order to create a guild across-chains aggregation platform.
GF creates the identify of participants in the metaverse by establishing GuildFi ID, which records players’ accomplishments on the chain.
Rainmaker Games’ goal is to create the biggest dynamic library of P2E (play-to-earn) games, and it now contains several hundred.
Rainmaker Games has three levels of play: entry, intermediate, and advanced, and players may pick the level they want to play at.
Merit Circle is similar to YGG in that it has a DAO and a subDAO architecture. Instead of issuing a subDAO token, Merit Circle’s subDAO shares the DAO’s token, MC.
Good Games Guild is working on an asset dashboard and NFT trading platform to enable players manage their assets across many games, as well as a tool-based Game Hub.
